It seems every time I go to a website, people there hate me. Atlas is no exception. In real life, I'm very well liked, despite not having many social interactions. Basically people like me in real life and hate me on the internet.

Are there any major differences between your lives digitally and in real life?

I don't usually go by the name of a dead Senator in real life.

Pretty much the same IRL as here. Except I don't go circlejerking about politics with everyone.

My real life is rather different from what you see online.

In real life, I'm a spokesman for an ancient alien race known as the Shadows, who indoctrinated me after my capture on the planet Z'ha'dum.  Though outwardly polite and gracious, I represent a dangerous hidden agenda.

I can only hope that my associates never learn of my online life.  How would they react, if they knew that I spend hours posting about a presidential election in the United States set to take place two years hence, when said elections are a sham?  After all, my associates already covertly control all major Earth governments, and their power will only grow in the years to come.

I'm probably similar in that, outside of classes, my personal life consists of doing Forum-related things, for better or worse.

I don't hate you. But funnily enough, I was talking about the same thing with another poster last night. Actually I'm well liked on my other forums, but posting on for example a sports forum where everyone is basically a fan of the same team makes disagreements go smoother than a diverse political forum. The moderators tend to be less intrusive on my other forum frequents too

Fixed. (It's all in good fun mods, don't get me for this)

This forum is a special place for me where I can nerd out in peace without fear of appearing weird. I can also speak freely about political things which I can't really do all the time in real life because most people don't like talking politics, and people who do talk politics usually prefer it to be a circlejerk where everyone agrees; my views are radical and often a bit contrarian, and I love debate which I can't really do with most people.

In person I'm a typical young adult who is sociable and known to be fairly intelligent but I actively avoid being a smartass, and I avoid contradicting someone who says something I know to be wrong unless there's a greater purpose in doing so.

Not that far from real life. I sit around quietly and listen to everyone's discussion until there is a blatant falsehood that must be corrected.

But sometime's it's 3am on  a weekend and my contributions are less constructive than I perceive them.

Oh crap. I think I mistook you in the chat for this Obamanation. No wonder it hasn't been an active account in a year. Tongue

And to be honest, you strike me as an all around nice guy when people aren't hammering you. As for me, outside of here I'm still the "anti-fun" (anti-drugs, anti-alcohol, anti-cigarettes etc.) that you see on here, yet, I still manage to have a few friends on campus that drink themselves, shockingly enough. Despite being underage though, I don't rat on them as long as they don't try and pursue me to try it. Otherwise, I'm pretty much a teacher's pet when it comes to my history, political science and English classes, sort of struggle when it comes to certain sections in our math courses, and sleep during my morning science class. First semester my schedule was more open in between classes so I was able to do more stuff, take part in clubs, and hang out with my LAMBDA friends, but now my schedule isn't as flexible since I waited until the last minute to register for the spring semester. And since I'm not the "party boy, get drunk until I puke" type, I'll usually be on here at night more often than not or playing video games or watching TV.

My RL self is far too like my internet self for comfort.

Although in saying that I find that my RL 'self' changes a lot depending on context.

The real me gyms every other day, cycles every day, helps run a house, has domestic duties, bangs his husband, listens to music, paints, snuggles up with Netflix and a cooked meal and doesn't have to talk about religion because most people don't give a sh-t about it.

And yet for some reason, you feel the need to comment negatively on religion as often as possible. Not that I don't respect your opinion, but it doesn't seem like you try to avoid the issue.

My internet self is a bit of a pretentious asshole, tbh. I'm much nicer IRL.

On the one hand, my lack of social skills isn't a problem here, and that's an aspect I have a hard time overlooking.
