Agreed Nixon was quite literally a horrible individual.

But despite all s**t the man has done I'm going to vote FF just because of his detente policies, which, by easing tensions, aiding the rise of such Democratic-oriented movements in the Soviet Bloc as the Workers' Defence Committee, in long run paving the way for peaceful revolutions in the 80s and end of the Cold War.

Btw, it's going to be interesting to see how many LBJ defenders from the previous poll will now employ double standards by joining "Nixon is the worst" bandwagon.

The most corrupt president in American history by far. He started the War on Drugs. He made Republicans racist. He won in a 49 state landslide and played super dirty anyway.

This statement is as stupid as to say "LBJ made Democrats not-racist".

Far too complicated to fit within the FF/HP paradigm. I'll vote FF just to be a hack and avoid any further sagery on my part.

This statement is as stupid as to say "LBJ made Democrats not-racist".

LBJ decided that he liked black people so he did some civil rights stuff. He became unpopular in the Democratic south for this, but it won over the Northern Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats of the south were appealed to by Nixon in 1968, using the racists as a way to get elected. (George Wallace helped a bit too.)

Ford and Carter weren't racist, so neither party really developed. But then Republicans found someone who would not only become despised by blacks, but also become the most charismatic president in American history. Said person was very right-wing, and the Republicans followed him further and further right, with the Democrats in opposition to him.

Conclusion: LBJ started the path of Democrats leaving their racist positions behind them or joining the Republican party. Nixon used the Southern Strategy, Ford and Carter are not racist, Reagan installs policies that hurt blacks.

I vote Neutral.  He was a pretty good president aside from Watergate, but I can't excuse his bad behavior either.

Millions of dead Vietnamese, Laotians, Cambodians, and thousands of dead Americans disagree with that statement, I'd wager.

This statement is as stupid as to say "LBJ made Democrats not-racist".

Not to mention the fact that Republicans were very racist long before then.  Unless of course we live in a universe where "Rum, Rebellion, and Romanism" were Democratic campaign slogans.
