As a gun owner myself, I'd be happy to join.

The NRA is always about responsible gun ownership and making sure that people are properly trained in the handling and use of guns and aware of the safety precautions necessary in order to maintain gun safety.

Always has been too.  Anyways, welcome to all new members.

While I'm not joining, I want to wish you all success.

I'm writing a paper on gun control, an issue I used to have very mixed views about, but my research has led me to really question whether gun control is effective at reducing crime.

In the thread below I made a number of references while debating this subject, figured they might help you out. Smiley

I support the 2nd amendment, but I don't support the legalization of assault weapons, support background checks at gun shows, and don't support banning lawsuits against gun manufacturers for gun violence.  So, does this qualify me even with all these liberal stances?

I have no intention of enforcing ideology on members, except in extreme cases (like people who believe in gun confiscation, etc.).

This is mainly an organization designed to lobby against laws at restricting the rights of gun owners and the like.

That's the main reason why Naso's not allowed in here.  Because of the laws he wrote specifically designed to restrict the rights of gun owners.

Anyway, if you want to join, feel free.

I think I'll sit it out until the platform and bylaws are written.

to ensure that the Atlas Forum National Rifle Association is as bipartisan as its real-life counterpart is not; and to be consistent with my belief that the second amendment entails an individual right to bear arms, (and that the 'militia' mentioned is actually in reference to the populace as a whole), i'd like to join the AFNRA.
