From RRH: The mayor of Rochester, Lovely Warren, is meeting with the DCCC.

Slaughter might be retiring.

Maybe they're trying to line her up for 2016.

Oh, great, if Slaughter retires, we'll have to hear about how fabulous Maggie Brooks is over and over again, despite the fact that she lost big.

Louise Slaughter is 85 years old. I don't know how she or Hall manage the travel.

Guys, veteran House Dems in safe seats might be retiring with the excuse that FL 13 was the last straw because that means they aren't winning the majority this cycle, not because they're necessarily losing their seat.

I would agree with you, but the article that they were facing hard reelections.  If it had not said that, I would be saying it would be a few of the members who were elected before the 1980's.  I think Charlie Rangel may be one of them.  Isn't he facing a hard primary fight?

It still sounds like Peterson is running:

Yup, Peterson just announced he's running again.

So either John King is full of it (entirely possible) or Tim Bishop will retire this week.

Peterson and Bishop would be the only ones possibly fitting the category or tough race and veteran House Dem, who have not yet announced what they are going to do. Am I missing anything?

...

Where did it say it would be a competitive district? All the article indicates is that there could be more retirements, but didn't say from where.

The article referred to "tough races" I believe.

When is he not?

I'd bet that someone like Jim McDermott or Pete Visclosky retires soon and then people claim John King was right.

King now claims that Nick Rahall was going to retire, but was talked out of it by Dem leadership.

Which certainly could be true or could be total bullsh*t.

Even if it is true, I highly doubt the FL-13 results had any impact whatsoever on Rahall's decision. They're not exactly similar districts. Sounds like King was just blowing smoke out of his ass.
