After dabbling in diversity in 2008 (Palin) and 2012 (Bachmann/Cain), will 2016 be a return to the stage full of white males? All potential minority or women candidates seem unlikely to run, except perhaps Jindal. Maybe Rubio if he recovers from his missteps.

Probably not. Jindal, Rubio, maybe Carson, and sadly Allen West or Herman Cain may join.

If Rubio yields to Jeb, wouldn't that leave it solely in Jindal's hands?

It is unlikely. Rubio, West, Martinez, Palin, are all prospects.

I highly doubt Jeb runs, but in that event yes, it would be Jindal.

West is as dead as disco at this point, Martinez isn't interested, Palin (See:West), and Rubio has jumped his 5th shark at this point.

Probably not.

Jindal's likely running.

The party has a few Hispanic officeholders, so I'd bet on at least one of them making a go at it.

I also think there will be encouragement for an establishment woman to run, either Susanna Martinez, Kelly Ayotte, Cathy McMorris Rodgers or Nikki Haley.

Finally, there will be the freak show/ book club candidates, those who don't have a shot of winning, but who would run for the publicity. Ben Carson and Allen West are considered possibilities, as is Sarah Palin.

And Indian-Americans are, for all intents and purposes, White, for the same reasons that Jewish-Americans are.

This. I hate it when people are like "Will Rubio's color affect his chances?" It's such nonsense.

Fact: When Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz (handwaving their fame) walks into a Wall-Mart loss prevention sees a white person.

Jindal, possibly Rubio, Cruz, Haley and Martinez.  And I think Herman Cain mounts another B list bid for the fun of it

For all intents and purposes, yes. The GOP isn't ready for a non-White male at the top of its ticket quite yet.

Marsha Blackburn has said she's interested. So that makes a woman likelier.

The party leaders would encourage her if none of the other women want to run.

Although even if one of the others runs, I also doubt they'd be disappointed at two women on the debate stage less likely to embarrass the party than Palin or Bachmann. Though that part is still a moot point for the thread question.

No she hasn't.  An aide to her gave an anonymous quote suggesting that her trip to NH was a sign of testing the waters for a national run, but Blackburn herself denied that she was running.

Can Ted Cruz even be a candidate? Last I checked, he was NOT born American.

How many times to I have to say this? If his dad or mum was born in America (Which one of them are), he is eligible.

No, if only for the Ben Carson sideshow.

And at least one of Rubio, Cruz, and Jindal will likely run.

You sure of that? From virtually every source I pulled, even if his parents were Americans, if didn't matter. Being born in American soil seems to be a requisite. But I might be wrong anyway.

That's wrong. Being born on American soil is one way to be born a citizen (and the one way that's guaranteed by the constitution), but federal law provides other possibilities for birthright citizenship. Ted Cruz's mom was an American citizen, so as long as she met the age and residency requirements, Ted Cruz was an American citizen at birth.

See also, John McCain being born in Panama.
