Seems like they require a lot of time and money to maintain. I'd rather have a leisurely early retirement in a modest bungalow.

The third home doesn't look ridiculously large, except for the pool out front.  Replace the lawn and pool with a shady park like area full of shade trees.  Plant shade loving perennials around the trees and mulch... and have naturally short, shade loving grass in between that doesn't need mowing... you've created an "urban" woodland and it maintains itself for the most part.

The first two are ugly as sin. The last one seems okay.

The first one is rather 'meh', but the second two are most definitely very swish.

I wouldn't say the vilest, since these aren't super mansions, but indeed they are homes to the class enemies.

Raze the first two. Only the third is a suitable home for a productive member of society.

All three should be converted to raw materials or used as warehouses.

I enjoy(ed) pool party weekends when parents were absent, but the other ~360 days of the year they're absolutely terrible.

The first one is clearly lacking green around it.

No. I would love to have a big beautiful home if I could afford it. But those aren't beautiful. The first one looks like it was built in a drought zone.

2 has too much concrete in front. 3 looks good, but that pool is probably an hell to manage and maintain and the grass looks fake.

I actually agree with you on the aesthetics, but I suspect most posters here have other reasons for hating those houses.

I like the second and third one.  The second one has magnificent curb appeal, and the arabesque fountain brings to mind a weekend in Seville, sans bullfighting.  Additionally, it has great brickwork landscaping.  Ostensibly that's for parking, but it has the added benefit of reducing the amount of lawn that must be watered, mowed, and fretted over.  Moreover, at least two of the bedrooms have walk-out balconies.  How cool is that?

The third has a pool.  'nuff said.  I'd put more deck around the pool, but I can live with what's there.  Is it the back of the first one?  I can't quite tell from the trees, but they're similar in species and number.

I'm not too crazy about the first one.  First, I almost can't quit staring at the grain silo--or is it a turret--tacked onto an otherwise acceptable floorplan.  When I do take my eyes off of it, I notice the horribly landscaped lawn.  I get that folks want to work with the landscape, and maybe that's in California, or Arizona, so why should they be expected to have a Connecticut lawn?  I also realize that they're still doing it (the flags indicate that pipes have recently been laid), but that lawn is just ugly.  Surely you could put in a palmetto or some stones.  Also, the garage takes up too much space in the front, which is particularly sad since it's only a 2-car garage.  If you're going to make a house that looks like a cross between a battleship and a garage, at least give us three stalls.  And what the hell were they thinking when they placed that front door out there on the side, like a slave's quarters?  It's just a little embarrassing.

The first one is still pretty ugly, though.
