"Contributing to the Update" is hardly a contribution at all.

His Johnny one note but repeatedly made statements of admiration that Jeff had been so successfully in not working much to date in his life, an veritable act of heroism, because work = slavery?  Er, no. F no.

Besides that, I try my best to not read the Update so I can't miss something I rarely saw.

do you people really believe that opebo is 'lazy?'

so why would he encourage bushie to be lazy?

Because, he rightly saw that just finding a way for Bushie to live in his lazy ways with minimum consequence as possible was probably best for him in the end.  Considering Bushie's physical shape, it's not too unlikely he could have gotten a government check cut for him to sit around and watch college football.  No, you certainly wouldn't write a Hollywood script about the way The Fallen One recommended Bushie live, nor is it a shining example of how one should exist within the frame of a society, but it was probably all for the best.

EDIT: Don't you remember how he tried to keep Bushie over at the power company when others dumbly encouraged his pie-in-the-sky scam jobs?  So it wasn't even always in the context of wanting Bushie to be unemployed.

bushie may well be disabled.  i dont deny that.

*but*

bushie has also done absolutely nothing to improve his physical or mental well being.  he refuses to lose weight.  he refuses to see a mental health professional.  i dont necessarily think his disability is permanent.

This raises the eternal question of whether it's "Update" or "The Update".

It's Update, of course. I don't understand where "The Update" comes from.

hockeydude: for what reason should the government be cutting bushie a check every month?  because he refuses to exercise or eat in moderate amounts?

nonsense.

bushie may have some mental problems that he definitely needs to seek help for.

his weight is in his control.
