This act seems pretty necessary to being able to make an accurate ballot...

Thank you, Mr. Speaker.

The Candidacy Declaration Act of 2012 requires that all candidates state their candidacy a whole two months prior to the election they wish to participate in. This is an outrageously early announcement  time. In addition, this law discriminates against newer players, who may not have time to learn about the early announcement time. I urge the Assembly to vote to repeal this law and allow free and fair elections in the Northeast.

I think you misread the Candidacy Declaration Act.  The Act requires that prospective candidates declare no more than two months prior to the scheduled election, not no less than two months.  That means a gubernatorial candidate can't declare his candidacy three or four months out, when it might be forgotten by election day.  It shouldn't affect Assembly elections, as Representatives are elected every two months, anyway.

I'm glad this was tabled, and while I don't share Rep Deus desire to repeal everything Wink I think it can be helpful to review and refresh old legislation so yeah.
