Emerson College is a relatively new pollster, but they had the best VA poll last November, showing McAuliffe winning by 2:

Down 7% in Texas is a remarkable performance by a Democrat for any statewide office.

Davis' new communications director has been doing good work. And this week we've had two unforced errors from Abbott surrogates on equal pay: Yesterday the Red State Women director said "Women are too busy" to worry about equal pay (wtf?), and today an Exec for the state GOP said "Men are better negotiators."

Anyway, glad to see this posted. I didn't want to for fear of the contrarian police coming by and reminding me that Texas is still mostly Republican.

This is a good performance from her, but her favorables are crap, Abbott looks in a better place to grow from this.

It's because of that nonsense stirred up by Wayne Slater (in what he called "Reporting") last month about her ex-husband.

Further down in this poll it says that Abbott's campaigning with Nugent hurt him more than the Davis bio flap.

Not true. Her unfavorables are from Republicans having a more definite picture than Democrats. She's at +1 net favorable with indies with over 20% undecided. Likely Republican, but the crosstabs point to an easier for Davis to grow her support.
