Alfred is the default choice, unless he gives me a reason not to vote for him. Tongue

In the end, it's an honest disagreement about polygamy or whatever, but I can't vote for anyone or a party who wants to dismantle the healthcare system for a profit-based enterprise.

Would my not running be a reason not to vote for me?

I would vote for myself, although JCL and Alfred would also make excellent Senators. I recall working back with Alfred back in the NE Assembly and knew as nothing but a reasonable, pragmatic, progressive. I hope he'd be the same in the Senate.

Either candidate who isn't the one who interprets Exodus 30 as implying that a capitation tax is fair (I read a Person's link) is more or less fine with me, in this case.

While I like Simfan, I'll likely be supporting Alfred. I don't know much about JCL either way. Agree w/ Averroes about a less active Senator resigning.

I hope there is no resignation. I think the at-large election is only one month away and the regional senators were elected only a month ago.

which is a shame to have to hold an election for a few weeks at the end of the term but I understoof there is a wish for another resignation.

Wait, so if I were to be elected, I would serve two non-consecutive partial terms. Interesting.

The Bible is no basis for public policy or law of any kind. Not now, at least.

[1] Alfred
[2] Simfan

I'd be cool with seeing both in the Senate.

Alfred and I shared a lot in common back in the Assembly.

Indeed. New Yorkership, results-over-rhetoric mindsets, unorthodox fashion senses (though yours generally stayed in the aristocratic range while mine switched between Sixth Doctor and wearing nothing but a sack), etc., etc.

I'm not running for the Senate, if that's your accusation. I'm just stating facts.

Yes you are just stating the fact. Maybe I read into it too much.

You're forgiven (see, I love Jesus too!) - it's easy to make mistakes with facts when you're not acquainted with them.

With 56 Votes, we have a great sample, and with these three candidates:

Former Northeast Speaker Alfred F. Jones (Lab-NY) - 36%
Mideast Assemblyman JCL (Fed-IN) - 30%
Former Senator Simfan (TPP-CA) - 25%
Someone Else - 5%
Undecided - 4%

No candidate comes off with a majority, with Alfred holding a narrow lead over JCL and Simfan.
