Austria has an extremely controversial singer this year (well, more controversial abroad really than domestically), with drag artist Conchita Wurst:

The song ("Rise like a Phoenix") is getting, unsurprisingly, pretty mixed reviews on YouTube and many hostile comments ... Tongue

...

Well, I don't really have a problem with it - but I wonder how many points we'll get from the homophobic Eastern European countries this year ... Wink

So after Ukraine wins as a show of European solidarity and then it gets annexed by Putinstan, where will the Eurovision 2015 be held? Wink

More seriously, what happens if in 2015 Russia trolls Eurovision with an entry from Crimea?

Any good gag songs this year? Greece, for instance, obviously had the best performance last year (and Russia the year before)

First time I watched an Eurovision final in full, and it exceeded my expectations. Some songs - Netherlands's, Finland's, Italy's and Austria's - really stood out, enough to drown out the other dreck in the first half. Conchita totally deserves it: her live performance was one of the best, as well as other reasons.

Evidently because I'm not a cross dresser! I'm more classy.

Keep pushing this and I'll have to call the Velvet Mafia on you

The show was clearly better than previous years' ones.

Happy about our last place, this song was awful.

Very happy about the winner, the song was good and the symbol is strong.

Displaying disapproval towards cross-dressers is neither "stuck up" nor snobbish. What do you mean by "self-delirious"? I'll give it to you that English may not be your first language.

I said you are stuck up and and snobbish. Is reading comprehension not part of your supreme academic education at Oxford? Your attitude towards  cross-dressers is just generally backwards and bigoted.

Sorry, I'm not intellectual enough to recognise how positive an impact cross-dressing has delivered to society.

Why would that question be relevant? I don't recognize any positive impact you have on society, and yet I think even you are entitled to basic rights and freedom. And the freedom to be an arrogant arse in public is one you seem to be particularly fond of.

Thankfully we live in a society where people can dress however the hell they want without having to care about how you think it impacts society. Your homophobia is a minority opinion, deal with it.

So unless you think a person hasn't delivered a positive impact on society they're worthy of your condensation and self-perceived moral superiority? I'm not claiming cross-dressing solves starvation and stop famine, but it doesn't cause any harm to anyone either.

People telling others they should feel shame for stuff that does not affect anyone else in any sort of way, on the other hand, has caused great harm to society through-out the ages and several personal tragedies.

So if you want to sit there on your computer and go: "Uggh men in dresses, uww," like a immature twelve-year-old boy, I guess there's nothing to be done about it. But don't come dragging with your supposed intelligence when people on here rightfully refuse to treat as a grown up.
