Today is March 19th.

For the past 2-3 weeks, we've had extremely warm and dry weather with temps of up to 22°C (which is about 10°C higher than normal).

Tomorrow, the temps are likely to hit 23/24°C (73-75°F) in Tyrol (in the area where the poster Cranberry lives) and Southern Austria and even 27°C (!!!) (81°F) in Bozen, South Tyrol (Italy).

I don't really mind it though, because in the valley it's the best weather to do some mountainbiking/hiking - while on the mountains there's still enough snow for another month for the ski tourists.

Still, unusually warm weather so far this year ...

Europe map:

US map:

We are located about on the same level as the greenish-blueish Toronto & Quebec, but with temps like in the US South.

It's 41°F right now in Lakewood, Ohio with expected rain and a high around 50. As of late, the sun has been out, but its also been windy and cloudy. We haven't had snow since last Wednesday during a terrible snowstorm and the forecast for the upcoming week is scattered with highs around 28°-48°F. It doesn't look like we're out of the snow yet, either, though we'll start getting a lot more of precipitation and eventually, sun (finally!)

I really should have moved out of state for college, because I'm sick of this weather already. :/

For some reason winter doesn't want to end here.  I drove to work last night in flurries.

It's 7 am and already got 13 Celsius (55F). Lets see if the 24 Celsius are reached, as Tender said.

19° C here today - on the radio, they said it was the warmest (last) winter day ever recorded for northern Germany.

Before you Americans get too envious - last year we had snow until late April, which was the longest I remember.

I guess it's sort of normal now.  Sunny and windy and about 50 degrees Fahrenheit.  Big black ice mountains in parking lots still melting, and when they recede they leave behind a trashy mess.  This is always the ugliest time of year.  Lots of exposed garbage just before major streetcleaning, and no flowers or leaves yet.  Sunny though, which is nice.

We're in a winter storm warning after "mild" temps around 39F (4C).  But 6" of snow is expected along with 40mph winds and temperatures back below 0F (-18C) by the weekend.

People in Winnipeg have titled the winter of 2013/14 "The winter that ruined everything".

Many businesses here have been operating without city water for months because the ground has frozen to unprecedented depths and the pipes are freezing.

Underneath cleared areas like roads... frost depth has reached 12 feet deep.  That's incredible.

It has also killed a lot of trees and the wildlife is really suffering (except the wolves who profited from weakened deer).

Silver lining?  This winter may have seriously set back the spread of most invasive species in the region since many of these invasives come from Asia or Europe where this kind of cold doesn't occur.  They said that at temps below about -20F, emerald ash borer larvae have nearly 100% mortality.

The dry late summer and fall before everything froze also likely reduced the insect populations.  Good for us.. bad for the birds.

I feel like the guy in charge of the weather has broken the "spring" knob and has resorted to madly flipping between "winter" and "summer". Only reasonable explanation.

It's been a long and painful winter, but we're on pace for our warmest day of the year thus far today! Sunny and a high of 68 degrees today in Champaign, IL; a beautiful Midwestern spring day.

Warm, sunny days in Champaign are amazing. Cherish them because someday you'll become old and wonder where they all went Sad

For example, it was in the lower 70s yesterday today and is expected to be in the 20s early next week before going back up to the 60s.

A big forest fire the last few days in Tyrol. In the Alps. In Mid-March:
