What cultures are these?

Furthermore, Tokyo Sexwale's name is not actually Tokyo. It's Gabriel. And the x is silent.

At first I thought the ridiculous name in that one was "Human Settlment."

Why does it say Tokyo?

He's a South African politician. I believe he got the nickname because he did karate as a child.

For the record the website in question is Ebaumsworld .com (and yes I probably should have mentioned that sooner)

Nice!  I'll have to share this with my son when he gets home from school.  He loves this stuff.

A seminal moment, actually.  I don't think I've ever shared any of this forum tripe with my family.

Also, don't forget the infamous porn star Miles Long in your next list.  Smiley

Well, Tokyo Sexwale, for one, considering that I knew how it was pronounced and that Tokyo was a nickname. Batman bin Suparman as well is...an unusual and I'd imagine possibly deliberate juxtaposition, but the names individually are not that unusual (there's a Malaysian football player named Rusdi Suparman, for instance).

Most of the rest are ridiculous, yeah. And Dick Trickle and Dick Power presumably brought it on themselves (or had it brought on them as children and never bothered to correct for it).

LOL, some of those are just too outrageous. I remember Dick Trickle, though. Ha!

I was reading recently about how a really bizarre or supremely odd name can hurt you on the job market, especially if you're applying for an actual career job or management. Batman bin Suparman on a cover letter? OMG!

Anybody remember Dick Armey? From Texas to boot! LOL!

Ugh, seriously?  That site was stealing content from other sites long before buzzfeed and chive were doing it.

What makes you think any of this is okay to do here?

Fire Penguin Disco Panda is a perfectly good, legitimate name. And I believe the young boy's name is Jed I. Knight.

My favorites are Batman bin Suparman (suparman I love it lol), Charity Beaver and Am'az'in Blackman (complete with unnecessary apostrophes)

It's per se - Latin for "in and of itself".
