Strongly approve, so far.  I don't much care for his handling of horse-drawn carriages, but his approach to education gets a thumbs-up from me.

I haven't been following what he's done, but I'm very disappointed that he seems to believe that a crackdown on jaywalking is the best way to reduce pedestrian fatalities. Lean disapprove.

I think most of that is coming from within the windshield culture of the NYPD, and individual precincts that are making the decision that "if we have to ticket motorists then let's be 'fair' and ticket walkers too".

It's outrageous, and de Blasio ought to get out in front trying to stop it, but I hesitate to lay it entirely at his feet.  Yet.

I also sort of wonder if a few rounds of ticketing jaywalkers is the political price he has to pay for getting certain parts of the city on board with the idea of holding drivers accountable for their actions.  In which case it is a s**tty compromise but could still be better than nothing.

Why?  Are you opposed to charter schools?

Approve (not a right wing Democrat, not a Republican, not Andrew Cuomo)

Approve, obviously. Very glad that he's going after charter schools. Those should be illegal. And someone is finally standing up to the Republican in the governor's mansion, so that's nice too.

Starting with Giuliani, each new mayor is increasingly fascist. De Blasio is striving to reach new heights.

Really, third wayer? I thought he got elected on a largely Progressive platform? Or are you confusing him with Cuomo?

Well, third-wayers are "progressive" by and large.

Approve. He has the potential to become the best NY mayor in decades. Let's just give him some time.

mixed.  we can't say he hasn't picked a few fights that he didn't have to pick: pre-K, charter schools.  he's backing away from the reactionary and embarrassing Bloomberg-era lawsuits re: FDNY/Vulcan Society and stop-and-frisk.

Haven't read a thing "good" about him to date. My tentative view is that he is a rather reckless, impractical and naive ideologue. We shall see.
