It depends if you think the absurdity of regurgitating 17th century political philosophy in order to answer specific public policy questions is hilarious or disturbing.

I was also hoping this might prompt a discussion about the idea of rights but that's probably asking too much.

I cannot stand the trope that the rights afforded us in the Constitution "come from God."

The Bible is not exactly a declaration of the rights of man, what with the slavery and the polygamy and the absolute monarchy and whatnot. Democracy arose from a polytheistic Hellenic society. Natural rights came out of a secular Anglo-French society. There is no right to free speech in The Bible. There is no right to vote for your leaders. I'm also fairly certain guns did not exist in the 1st century Middle East.
