Yes, what Bushie did was kind of similar to this:

If the forum was indeed "save[d]" as you say, then doesn't that imply that banning opebo didn't cause significant irreparable harm?

Of course the harm is not irreparable.  No one's departure would be.  But we lost an articulate poster with a good sense of humor.  That, to me, is sad.

It was sad to me as well.  Just like with jmfcst, I didn't take pleasure in opebo being banned, but it was something that I believe had to be done.

Did any of the mods urge Bushie to reopen the Update as soon as opebo was banned or was that just a "coincidence"?

Bushie is a hero and an inspiration to us all. I am proud to say we saved him from jail in the process. It's a give give relationship.

Oh, so now you're doubting your own theory and believe that Bushie was just a pawn in the chess game of the forum moderators?

That wouldn't change the fact that he saved the forum.

But it would mean that you were naïve enough to fall for our evil plot.  Then again, this is all a silly hypothetical.  Everyone knows the Rothschild family has been controlling the forum for 4 years and 3 months now, so what the mods "did" or "didn't do" is all just a façade.  It's a chess game, within a chess game, my friend.

Why?  The Fallen One's act, if you want to call it that, had been the same for years.  The outrage was sudden and, dare I say, unfounded.

I've given my reasons several times publicly.  You're free to look them up.  You're in the United States Navy; I have full faith that you will be able to use your investigative and critical thinking skills to find the answer.

God Inksy, reading through your posts for hours would certainly hurt my ability to defend your freedom to ban people.

Jeff decided to reopen the Update on his own. I don't think he consulted anybody. In any event, the hiatus dialed down the temperature surrounding it, and so it was not all for naught. In a word, Eraserhead's little speculative theory sucks.  Thank you.

Well, yes, that has always been Bushie's strategy.  Whenever Updaters start asking him uncomfortable questions, and he feels like he's under fire, he closes Update for a while, pretending to make the closure permanent.  Then, after a while, he reopens it, by which time everyone's forgotten what they were so worked up about before.

Yes, much like Thatcher and JPII ended the cold war.

Nice way to divert attention, Mod.

Eraserhead won't be fooled so easily. He remembers that Bushie was once also a mod, and his demodding was merely a way to do the work of a mod while being completely beneath suspicion. He's the Sir Percy Blakeney of the Atlas, appearing as the mild-mannered updater, while secretly rescuing the mods from the guillotine.

It's a shame when a purportedly decent forum is allegedly only kept alive by two cults.
