Has the forum been better or worse since opebo's banning?

Let's ignore the loss of a great poster, who made hilarious and insightful posts and was the forum expert on Thai politics and society. Ever since the opebo banning, it seems like people are obsessed with banning everyone. Now that it's clear that people can be banned for no reason other than the moderators not liking them personally, the atmosphere in this place has become toxic, with people constantly calling for bans of everything they dislike in some way.

It's also clearly emboldened inks, who has been a nightmare since January.

Better, since opebo was awful and all but one or two of the people who left in protest were also awful. The forum may go downhill, again, though, since those posters have come back.

I will say that the solidarity avatars have been extremely annoying, though. To the point where everyone who has one is on my ignore list, even if I normally like their contributions.

He's been banned!? There was a time when I would have happily seen Opebo booted off the Forum, but he and I became cordial acquaintances, and I thought his posts had mellowed considerably over the last several years.

Better now that the pedophile apologist (Opebo) was banned, but it has been going downhill for a long time for reasons unrelated to anyone being banned.  With any luck BushOklahoma will be banned and some of the worst posters will leave with him.

This. With the exception of Lewis, the Opebo apologists haven't really added much to to the forum except rudeness, ignorance & extreme hackishness.
