Yeah, but the US record company did that with Rubber Soul too. And it arguably worked, but that doesn't make the original UK album not awesome.

Beatles for Sale is I think very much underrated.

I don't find that at all polished or simplistic - at least not if I'm really paying attention when I listen to it.

I do really like that Portraits of the Past song between about 0:10 and 0:35.
