TV Ad: Homeland Insecurity

FEMALE VOICE OVER: In an increasingly dangerous world, even after the first terrorist attack on America, we need a government vigilant against threats to our homes and safety. President Bush and Rudy Giuliani shut down the Domestic Terrorism Task Force, and refuse to let it reopen. Senator Joe Biden would reopen the Domestic Terrorism Task Force on day one, making sure that we strengthen our defenses. George Bush and Rudy Giuliani have weakened those defenses, and weakness attracts those who wish to do us harm. I'm Joe Biden, and I approve this message

TV Ad: Pay-For-Play

FEMALE VOICE OVER: Now more than ever, Americans need someone who's looking out for their voice in Washington.

Giuliani's cronies as mayor accepted perks including a taxpayer-funded taxi service. Just this month, one of his appointees as Mayor plead guilty to lying under oath and receiving a vehicle purchased with $38,000 of New York's taxpayer money.

It's the the tip of the iceberg.

Giuliani appointed his best friend's son, Russell Harding, to the Housing Development Corp. He was indicted in March 2003 for defrauding the city of hundreds of thousands of dollars. And according to Harding's correspondence: this was par for the pay-for-play course:

IMAGE: [Clip of Harding's correspondence released in 2002]: "My dad is always helping the mayor with projects for money making ... And the mayor is always helping my dad as well ... he had my dad go over some contracts a while back about a company taking over the airports here ... so not only in the long run will the mayor profit from it ... but my dad already has with doing the contract ... they both have a watch each other's back thing going."

Highlighted text, read aloud by male voice over: THE MAYOR IS ALWAYS HELPING MY DAD
NOT ONLY IN THE LONG RUN WILL THE MAYOR PROFIT
MY DAD ALREADY HAS
THEY BOTH HAVE A WATCH EACH OTHER'S BACK THING

IMAGE: [Clip of Harding's correspondence released in 2002]: "Trust me ... it makes perfect sense for the line of work my dad is in ... as well as with my job ... we all help the mayor and he helps us."

Highlighted text, read aloud by male voice over: WE ALL HELP THE MAYOR AND HE HELPS US Paid for by the ACLU & League of Integrity Voters

Giuliani Campaign Ad, running in the following states

A Time For Choosing
My fellow Americans, our nation is at a cross roads. We have two options - prosperity and security or distress and danger. We can be safe in our homes, or we can live under the fear of Al Quaeda. We can stand up to terrorists, or we can let them win. We can really fix our broken immigration system, or we can spew talking points. Only Rudy Giuliani is prepared to keep America on the right path - the path laid down by Thomas Jefferson, Abe Lincoln, Dwight Eisenhower, and Ronald Reagan. Paid for by the Committee to Elect Rudy Giuliani.

OOC: Sorry, I know I already requested a lot, but looking at your map I want to request Montana, the Dakotas, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Connecticut, and Georgia too. I think some of my fellow players will want to see those too (I assume Johnson is probably the cause of the Dakotas being light blue, for example)

"Arkansas, this is a special election for our great state. This November I will be so proud to cast my vote for our favorite daughter, Senator Blanhe Lincoln, for Vice President! And to the great Senator Joe Biden for President!

Now, I am running to replace Senator Lincoln, and I promise to put Arkansas first. In our state's capital, I cut my teeth as a deal-making Democrat. Together with Attorney General Mike Beebe, I passed the Arkansas Academic Challenge scholarship program. And I am proud to say that the first bill I enter into the United States Senate will be a national version of this great Arkansas program. Students all over America deserve to have the same opportunity to reach their dreams of a higher education and we will make it happen! And next year, President Biden is going to sign that bill, and make it law!" (cheers)

Blanche Lincoln Debate Response
Quote

"First if all, I'd like to thank you Gwen, for agreeing to moderate this debate and Case Western Reserve for hosting. It is so good that each of us can get our ideas out into the public conscience and help the voters make an informed electoral decision. It's also a great honor to have a woman moderating. We're in the same boat sister.

On to your question though,I feel the contrasts between our candidacies are clear: Senator Biden and I have actually been presenting plans and ideas to help move this country forward. Now it's one thing to actually run on a platform and another to run on platitudes while pretending you have any idea what you want to do.

Our opponent represents the ideas of the past and nothing but a continuation of the Bush/Cheney Doctrine of invade now, ask questions later. A retread of policies that favor the wealthy and those at the top, while completely ignoring the needs and problems of working families. Senator Biden has spent his entire career fighting for the Middle Class, and in Arkansas I've done the same."

Quote

"What Massachusetts has done is bold, but i'm not sure it's the right choice for the whole country. Senator Biden is a faithful Catholic, and I am a lifelong Episcopal. Our faith informs us and brings us to compassion and acceptance of gay couples; we know from the teachings of The Lord that it is not our place to assign sin or punish for them.

And Senator Biden and I are in full support of the rights afforded by civil unions: hospital visitation, benefits when somebody loses a loved one, the ability to file taxes jointly. But marriage should be left to the states. America obviously is not done discussing this issue. We are immensely supportive of that conversation and encourage all Americans to see both sides before deciding a stance. Otherwise we would be doing ourselves a disservice. We fully support states rights and the power of the Tenth Amendment."

Quote

"With regards to this question, I regret to inform you that its premise is false. When the Bush administration presented Congress and the public with false information, that information made it completely justified to remove Saddam Hussein from his reckless reign of power.

But Senator Biden was on the Foreign Affairs committee that met with President Bush. The President, his Vice President, advisors, Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld and NSA Rice all lied to the Senators on the committee. To their face.

Look, when a kid spills milk you make them clean it up to learn a lesson. But this isn't just some spilled milk. This is about the lives of our military members, and the Bush administration swindled the country into putting their lives in danger based upon untrue information.

What can be said about Hussein is that his regime kept peace between the Sunni and Shiite factions of Iraq, and without him we are seeing the beginnings of a civil war. Senator Biden and I are the only realistic option to make sure these problems and messes caused by Bush are fixed responsibly with as little loss of life as possible."

Quote

"Over the past four years we've experienced a cycle of tragedy, national solidarity, and anger. More than any time in recent history, America's destiny is not of our own choosing. We did not seek nor did we provoke an assault on our freedoms and our way of life. We did not expect nor did we invite a confrontation with evil. Yet the true measure of a people's strength is how they rise to master that moment when it does arrive. But facing us now, in this election, is a choice.

Will we continue on a path of untethered war in far off foreign lands? Or will we put in place policies that invest in the infrastructure here at home? Will we provide cuts and breaks for those at the top who've enjoyed an easy ride from the Bush Administration, or will we help raise the boats of working families everywhere? Senator Biden and I put our money in you, the American people. And in November, we're counting on your vote. Thank you, and goodnight."

Jesse Ventura Debate Responses:

Quote

Well to start with, unlike the rest of them, I've had experience as Governor of Minnesota, and served in the military. I know how to act as an independent voice, rather than towing party line unlike others here on stage. I have proven and  tested leadership. Unlike the rest I don't have a party platform that I am confined to, instead only ideas that will make America great again.

I don't owe any political favors either, I am not a Washington insider, I am here to lead and get the job done rather than to push an agenda. I know what the military needs, and it isn't big spending, but efficiency. I know our how our foreign policy should work. When you vote Gary Johnson/Jesse Ventura this November you can rest assured that you have a President and Vice-President making this country right. Not someone who has to follow party lines.

I find this whole argument rather ridiculous! Why is the Government even authorized to give licenses and say who can and cannot get married? That's an individual's choice! Saying that the government has the authority to give licenses dealing in affairs that it has no business in! This is a direct violation of our civil liberties! Instead we should have civil unions for all, different religions and people groups have different definitions of marriage, the government should remain neutral on the issue. As Vice-President I would challenge the Constitutionality of these licenses. This is taking the government too far into our personal lives.

First off is to create economic recovery zones in those areas to help stimulate the economy. We need to create more jobs and get businesses off the ground in those areas. Secondly is improve the quality of our public education system, and help create students who are able to work or are able to go to college. Then we need to eliminate the Federal Income tax and replace it with a national sales tax that exempts necessities like Food, Water, Clothing and Medicine. That's also not taking into account that the crime rate affects jobs! No company wants to take their jobs to a city with a high tax rate or a high crime rate. We should reduce penalties for non-violent crime and work on improving the education system so we don't have more kids getting involved in crime.

As a national executive, there is only so much the federal government can do for a city. The best option in Cleveland is a shakeup of leadership. That is why we need more independents in office, so that we can think up original solutions rather than tow a party line.

First off I'd like to thank all the other candidates for coming out tonight, our moderator Gwen here, and everyone who tuned in to hear all of us. Our country is a great one founded on great principles, and that is something we need to return to. President Washington warned against political parties, and it is obvious why. We need an independent voice, one who will do what is best for America, not the best for their party. We need to continue a fight for liberty, that fight is never ending, we the American people must be ever vigilant, and that is why Governor Johnson and I are running.

Our fight is for you, the American people, to win an upward battle for peace and prosperity. We bring an independent voice, one not tied down to a party label. We are not beholden to lobbyists, political favors, or big money backers. We as President and Vice-President are beholden to you, the American Public. Let's fight for the Constitution, let's fight for liberty and prosperity, let's fight for you, the every-day American! Thank you and good night.

Gary Johnson TV and Radio ad:
To be played in the following states:

Today we need a leader, not one beholden to political favors, not someone who has been bought by lobbyists. We need a leader who can rise above party politics, a leader who is an outsider to Washington. A leader that is beholden only to the people he serves. Gary Johnson did that has Governor of New Mexico, now he is bringing his leadership to the national level. As president he will not be tied down with political favors, instead he will choose what is best for the country as a whole. Let's take Washington back, let's vote Gary Johnson.

I do not see Sanders' responses. I will give it it to the end of tonight, if everyone is agreeable?
