I propose an amendment, which I trust Rep. Napoleon will find friendly.  The technical name of the bill passed was the Northeastern Town Hall Act, not the Northeast Town Hall Act.  We need to amend the bill as follows:

The Northeast Town Hall Act of 2013 is a useless, unenforceable law. I'm 100% behind repealing it

I'd sign a repeal of this.

The only recommendation I have is that we include a repeal of the Northeastern Debate Act of 2013 - perhaps I don't pay enough attention, but I don't recall any Governors doing this recently.

Technically, it is enforceable (I could file impeachment articles against all of you right now lol) but yeah, it is pretty pointless.

I'm not sure about the Northeast Debate Act. I kind of like the idea of that one, because I feel like a lot of voters don't know that much about what a candidate plans to do or specifically believes and just vote based on a candidate's avatar. A public debate seems like it might make voters more informed. But, I wouldn't mind repealing it.

I support this as well.  I didn't know about it until Rep. Deus opened a town hall meeting, which was poorly attended.  I have an office.  If any resident has a concern, they can post there.  That should be enough.

I also support repealing the debate act.  We haven't held a debate over at least the past two elections.  We shouldn't have legislation on the books that isn't followed.

I'm not sure that the repeal of the debate act should be included in this bill, though.  Bills should only have one topic.  That would make this bill have two.

SWE introduced a separate repeal a little while ago, so I suppose that's a good idea.

Since all Representatives have expressed support for this bill, I motion for cloture.

There is no motion for cloture on anything but the budget.  You can move to shorten the debate period, but the debate period can't be less than 36 hours.  I need a written request and a suggestion as to when debate should be cut off, which has to be some time after 6:48AM tomorrow.

The shortened debate period is now over.  It is time to vote on the bill, as amended:

By a 5-0 vote, the bill passes and goes to the governor's desk for his signature or veto.
