Most students I have worked with find calculus more difficult. At the HS level AP Stats is considered easier than AP Calc. In the university the calculus in a mid level statistics course is generally easier than its use in an equivalent course at that level like differential equations.

Shut up about math, Walter. We get that you don't like it.

Depends on what one means by "learn".  Calculus does have a number of calculations and formulas that can be difficult to master and hence is in that respect harder, yet I think in terms of grasping how to apply the results one gets from the raw mathematics, statistics is the harder subject to learn.

To what extent? They both can go much deeper than a high-school or undergraduate level, even though the vast majority of people will never need to.

I voted for statistics.

I found calculus I, II, and III be accessible, or maybe it came naturally to me.  I made A in all of them and didn't need to study too hard.  I found the first stats course I took to be much more time-consuming.  Where I work now, there are three undergrad stats courses on offer, and each serves different populations.  One is designated a Freshman course, one is a Sophomore course, and one a Junior course.  I honestly can't remember which of the three I took, but the middle one here is called Survey of Statistics and has only one semester of calculus as a prerequisite.  That sounds about like the one I took as an undergraduate student.  Anyway, I made an A in that course as well, but for me it required a little more time outside class than any of the calculus courses I took.

Just my experience.  Some others obviously have had different experiences.

Calculus. Statistics has been the one area that I am strong in Math. Of course, being in what I call the "dumb kids" math class at my school, we only scraped the surface on the subject and that my future statistics courses will be much more challenging.
