Olmert, along with thirteen other defendants was found guilty of accepting $140,000 in bribes while serving as Mayor of Jerusalem from 1993 to 2003, in regards to a highrise complex called "Holyland Park".
Olmert faces up to Ten Years in prison. According to Tamir Sheafer, a political scientist at Hebrew University, "His Political Career is Over, even with a successful appeal", While Yossi Alpher, a Israel-based Strategic Analyst believed that Olmert, was the last hope for the Israeli Center-Left to defeat incumbent Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu saying "What's left of the Israel Peace Camp will be deflated by Olmert's conviction".
