Subjective to a large extent, of course, but it's hard to conclude it isn't subpar in comparison to a good deal of other democracies.

Oh God, not this republic/democracy nonsense again...

It's no use. It's one of those great myths that no amount of reasoning will eliminate. Like the notions that Republicans are "fiscal conservatives".
