Not any of them are a good fit (as I'm not a "bro"), but I suppose a mixture of Colorado,Great Plains and Silicon Valley bros.

All of these caricatures sound like people I never want to associate with.

For what it's worth, ten years ago I was usually found wearing comfy khaki shorts, thongs, an 'ironic' t-shirt, and smoking stupid amounts of weed with my all male group of friends. Now I'm still wearing comfy khaki shorts and thongs and 'ironic' t-shirts, but only because I am a youngish working-class slob. I don't smoke weed and most of my friends are women. I don't know what I was closest to. Chicago bro sans sportswear? In any case I did and still do find young males of these descriptions really grating - I suppose my secret shame is yet also finding them attractive if they open their mouths and aren't idiots. Yech.

I sure hope "thongs" must means some different in Australian English than it does in American English...

Sorry to dash your hopes but both items are applicable. I only intended to mean flip flops.

Ah, right. I guess it's kind of like when British people hear Americans talk about "pants". Tongue

I don't know, maybe seventy years ago Wink I am an expat by the way, I'm from Ohio. And when I was a kid we knew that thongs were flip flops but a thong was just the undergarment that served as inspiration for a terrible Sisqo song.

Not a bro by this definition, but of those I guess I'd go with a distant relative of Brooklyn.

None fit me well, but I'd say Portland with a bit of D.C.

I share the uniform of the Chicago bro, the intoxicant of choice of the Miami Bro, the hobbies of the Colorado bro (or I would if I lived anywhere that was not flat), and the secret shame of the Silicon Valley bro. Southern frat people sound absolutely terrible.

I'm very familiar with the Mid-Atlantic bro. Last night on the Metro I saw a black dude looking like that (down to the salmon-colored shorts) amidst a herd of white bros. It was bizarre and not a little sinister.

Mid-Atlantic is probably closest, or Dallas.

Great Plains kinda fits the way I usually dress, though no cowboy hat or pickup truck. I'll just go with "UDM wanna-be hick fraternity brother" for the time being, though even that has its nuances. I don't want to over-generalize on the applicability of over-generalizations, but in this case, it doesn't cover it all. Hell, there's only one description applicable to anywhere near my part of the country.

Thinking about it, though, I do know people who could fit into a few of these categories.

Yeah, overgeneralizations are overgeneralizations and they don't tend to be all that accurate no matter where you apply them.

That being said... I'm very much not a "bro" by outlook or habit, but yeah I guess I do have some passing similarities to the Brooklyn variety if you squint the right way.

I don't much consider myself a bro; that said, I'm closest to Mid-Atlantic.

Urgh, they all sound awful. I guess that's what happens when you use caricatures.

I guess the best fit is LA, but even then it's a pretty average one.
