A modern Shtetl...I wouldn't underestimate Hassidic "Socialism" (far from it but it's a nice term here)...charity is pretty big in those communities and they have no problems sustaining mass population in poverty through their inner community (community in this sense extends the boundaries of Kiryat Joel and stratch to the entire Hassidic Jewishdom). I assure you there is not a single empty fridge in that town, every kid has shoes and cloths, and everyone is taken care of education wise.
This. hassidic approach to politics and the affairs of the "Goys" is not something easy to explain to western people (I can hardly understand them and I know their culture pretty well).
