The # 2 in the Wisconsin Assembly was recently charged with two felonies regarding a Seual Assault against a woman in 2011.  The woman was a staffer to Ron Johnson, and did not go to police until other sexual misconduct allegations against Kramer came to light.  She did however tell Johnson, his aide andd the Waukesha GOP chair in 2011.

Wow. We all knew that Johnson was doomed in 2016, but this sure doesn't help.

Ouch.

For the record, if Johnson were to resign, Wisconsin is one of the few states where the Governor doesn't appoint a placeholder. Instead, a special election would be held within a few months.

Wow, that would sure change the dynamic for this November, assuming a Democrat won.

It could have coattails for Walker's reelection campaign (which I admit to knowing little about-I don't know who is running against him) if the scandal grows. I predict Johnson won't resign until after the midterms, and I frankly don't see this doing him in as it stands now (as bad as this is.)

If this turns out to be true, and he was asked to stay silent, then this shouldn't be much of an issue for him.

But, Kramer was elected to the leadership, so shouldn't have Johnson's office had said something to the Assembly leadership about this, before Kramer was elected to the leadership? That's not something you sit on rather or not confidentiality is requested, because it involved a crime. All that aside, the average voter isn't going to really see it as anything as something being covered up by politicians. I don't think Johnson will resign, but depending on how far this issue goes, it could be an issue during his re-election campaign.

No, he's not "doomed" or anything, I don't know why people think this. That would be like saying Mary Landrieu is doomed in 2010.

Uh, we're not in 2010.

And Johnson is deeply unpopular, and he's in the Tea Party, which is quite a bit weaker than in say, Louisiana, and if Feingold runs in 2016, he's done.

While I wouldn't say he's doomed, but he's pretty screwed unless he can turn everything around by 2016, which is a tough task.

I'm pretty sure Landrieu would've been doomed in 2010 Tongue

I agree with EG, it annoys me a lot to see people saying: "Johnson is doomed", "Kirk is doomed", "Heitkamp is doomed",...

Okay, present a way that Johnson is doing totally fine and is popular, and will win re election in 2016 regardless of a Feingold run. Entertain me.

Well, before this scandal, there was no obvious Democratic replacement for Feingold, Johnson's approval ratings were fine, and he was able to self-finance. After the scandal, who knows, but prior to this Johnson was definitely favored to be reelected.

Uh, there were polls taken long before this scandal, showing him being beaten by Feingold from a 7 to 10 point margin, that is not definitely favoured, and in December, his approvals were 28%, again, that's not fine.

He has never extremely popular so saying he was favored before the scandal...
