Option 3. Pitcher's job is to pitch. Spot 9 or whatever in the NL is a wasted spot. Cycle back to 1 if the NL is not going to have a DH.

That's football thinking, though. Maximum production.

The options don't make any sense. Someone who picks option 3 would likely also pick option 2. There's no real neutral option.

Obviously it's fascist, but I don't mind the current situation. Normal people get normal baseball and American League fans get their gross simulacrum of baseball. Nobody loses. The only problem is interleague play, which of course is in its own right an abomination unto the Lord.

The fact that it's a debate that we should or should not have a position that is worthless (the pitcher batting) is why baseball is not my favorite sport, and never will be. It's a summer diversion because there's no football.

Awful on principle even though I really shouldn't complain about some of the specific things it's led to. It should be that you're either in the lineup of a baseball team or you're not.

Give it to both leagues. Theoretically, it's better without the DH, but pitchers are SO bad at hitting that it really ruins the flow of the game to have a terrible hitter mixed into the order. It's not fair that if the pitcher comes up with 2 on and 2 out, the team in the field almost always just gets a free pass.

American League baseball is terrible. Same thinking behind the DH led in part to the whole steroid era. Rather than enjoy a nice pitchers duel, the mouth breathers want more dingers...

An interesting point is that DHs as a group don't even hit well. Teams don't really maximize the position particularly well.

Also, there's almost nothing more fun than seeing a pitcher get a hit.
