Currently a male doc, but in the next few months his daughter will take over once he retires.

I've already been treated by her a few days ago and she's very good.

She's only about 10 years older than I am and very likeable.

This is the first time I'll have a female doc ... Smiley

What about you ?

There's no option for "haven't seen a general doctor in many years".

This is America: the correct options are "none", "the one in my network" and "the cheapest".

Outside of America people can pick any doctor they want and get to see him/her no matter what?  Weird.  It must suck to be a doctor outside of America.

I have a local "house doctor" at the clinic around the corner. She's a woman. Or at least she was. Tongue

I've only been there twice in the last 6 years. Now I have a private insurance so not really sure how that works.

All the primary care doctors I've ever had are male.

Woman. She's a 9.5 out of 10 but that's not why I started going to her.

A very friendly, laid-back and slightly overweight man in his fifties.

My doctor is an old Jewish man who makes body part jokes during every stage of a physical, as God intended.

I don't.  The last time I went to a doctor was over eight years ago when I broke my arm.

Woman, probably in her 50s.

This is America: the correct options are "none", "the one in my network" and "the cheapest".

Well, to be fair, from the doctor's perspective, the American system probably is one of the best. Your statement is hyperbole, of course, but guaranteed care with regulated prices does tend to lead to doctors working more and making less money. At least in Germany, I would happily admit that doctors are dramatically underpaid for the work they do.

Of course, offering universal care and not requiring people to consider whether they can afford basic medical treatment is worth that, in my opinion....but it'd be better if we found a way to balance interests a bit better.

Yeah, I went about 20 years without seeing one, and then, when I hit 50, I figured I'd better go before the conversation went something like - Grumps - "So doc, what's wrong with me"  Doc - "Everything"......but yeah, when you're young and invincible, why bother?

I have a super buffed pot/anti-aging doc of about 40 years in age. I have induced him to also prescribe my blood pressure meds and so forth so I don't have to go to some drone family practice doc and waste my time. I do it all by email.

The thing is, it doesn't even cost me money - it's the one service I'm eligible for.  I just can't be bothered.

On a purely political level, I feel like a jerk, because it goes against everything I stand for. Smiley
