I think it's imperative we get by the Jackets early.

5 games is early enough. I just don't want 6. Wink

Dominating performance by New York in Game 1.  36-15 in shots and just mauled Philadelphia in the 3rd.

I really want St. Louis to win their series.  I fear the Kings are toast and won't last long.

Actually, no, I think the Blues are a very good team who hasn't sniffed the Cup in far too long.  I'd be thrilled to make it to the finals no matter who we would play.  Smiley

When and how bad does Fleury meltdown this year, Uncle Gramps?

At any time, and probably bad.   They trust him so much Vokoun is back on the regular roster.  I do think we'll get by Columbus.  We were 5-0 against them in the regular season.

If he does, it's curtains for Bylsma as head coach.

I wouldn't.  I mean... they run away with a playoff spot every year.  Where have you seen the Caps ever since they panicked and fired Boudreau, who has only gone on to turn the Ducks from a last place team when he got there to a 1st place Cup contender.  How the hell do you blame him for a goalie absolutely falling off a cliff.  I mean... the pucks Fleury was letting in last year were pitiful.  An obvious case of a player completely losing his head out there.

This, I could MUCH sooner see us replace Fleury before Bylsma.

Because it's important, here are the teams I am cheering for in each series.

*Boston. I hate Detroit now that they've taken Daniel Alfredsson away. They must lost at all costs.
*Montreal. No brainer, only Canadian team left, and also my 2nd favourite team anyways.
*Columbus. I think anyone outside of Pittsburgh hopes the Pens lose.
*Flyers. I really don't care about this series, but the Flyers need some love.

*Wild. Minnesota really needs a cup.
*Blues. So does St. Louis.
*Stars. I am still bitter from '07. Plus, why the hell does Anaheim have a hockey team?
*Kings. LA needs a cup too. 2007 doesn't count.

Uh, Los Angeles won the Stanley Cup literally two years ago? Does Northern California not need one?

Does anybody in California plays hockey, outside of NHL players?

OMG I can't believe I forgot that. Once upon a time I could remember the cup winners dating back decades. Now I can't remember anything recent. I guess I'll switch my allegiance to the Sharks then. Not that I care that much about two California teams.

For whatever reason, American junior hockey teams are always full of players from Southern California. I've never understood it. As for where I'm from, obviously hockey's not big except as a spectator sport, but I had a few friends who played.

There are quite a few hockey players from California. Don't forget it does have 35 million people, and 3 NHL teams (one of which has been there for a long time now).  They don't produce as many players as Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York or Michigan, but they are quickly becoming a major contributor to the NHL.

I'll be rooting for whoever wins the Boston vs. Detroit series, even though I don't think Detroit has what it takes to take it the whole way this year. While I don't pay a lot of attention to the NHL during the regular season, I do almost always follow the playoffs, and I have to say that both of the first two games between those teams were very exciting and physical.

And yeah, if Pitt cannot take care of Columbus, something's wrong philosophically.

And, yet those are the same people saying than Radio-Canada should openly endorse national unity. CBC shouldn't allow such comments over its airwaves.
