http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2014/04/11/condoleezza-rice-appointment-to-dropbox-board-sparks-internet-outcry/

Internet activists, emboldened by the forced resignation of the CEO of Mozilla over opposition to Proposition 8, have begun calling for boycotts of Cloud Storage company Dropbox, for adding Condolezza Rice to their board of directors.

The list of complaints against Rice range from Bush-Era torture scandals, her role in the Iraq War, her prior position on the board of directors at Chevron, and most notably her support for warrant-less wiretapping.

Neither Rice's office at Stanford University, or Dropbox CEO Drew Huston had any comment about the controversy.

Really? C. Rice? That's an odd choice to put on the board of Directors

It will be short lived.  I don't think Stanford is hurting, are they?

Or, like other boycotts, in time it will end up with the opposite effect and people will flock to Dropbox simply to piss off the boycotters.

Board of Director gigs are basically just cushy sinecures for corporate high-flyers where you get paid a bunch for going to, like, two meetings a year.  There's zero expectation that the board members are in the same line of work, or even know all that much about the company.

Obviously they are supposed to be there for oversight and such, but... yeah not so much.

This thread has only served to show me that NYE is back to posting threads again, a most depressing fact.

Yeah, the GOP has done some stupid things, but that doesn't excuse the "Are you now, or have ever been, a member of the Republican Party?" mentality that some on the left have.

You're joking, but it's something I've actually seen.

I don't care, but then again I've always found Dropbox to be more inconvenient than anything else.

Whoops. An online storage service shouldn't have advocates of warrentless wiretapping on the board.

Yeah, this won't work. The boycotters didn't "break" Mozilla. The company itself was uncomfortable with his beliefs and donations. That's not the case here.

Boycotts aren't illegal, you know. The disastrous tenure at the state department (thousands of people dead) is why people have an issue with her, it's not about her being a Republican.

Nym banned him for a week.  That was literally the only thing stopping him, as NYE has made it perfectly clear that (for reasons known only to himself) it will take only a permaban to stop him.  Apparently hints, warnings, threats, pleadings and tempbans are insufficient at controlling his spam.

He's made like 2 or 3 threads so far, and BRTD makes like 60 a day about the same topics yet he gets off scot free, why?

...no one was complaining. Your definition of the "free market" is perverse.
