http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ioannis_Metaxas

Ioannis Metaxis seems to be one of the curious dictators, like Salazar, that, while monsters, are often seen as necessary and good to their countries. He was the pseudo/crypto/borderline fascist dictator of the 4th of August Regime and is most famous for his social and economic reforms as well as his bad*ss resistance to Mussolinni, giving the allies their first temporary victory of the war. Ironically, he never lived to see the successsful German invasion.
After WWII, many on the right supported him for his resistance of foreign occuption and his resistance to Italy. His supporters were in many ways the lesser evil to the Tito-backed Stalinist Comunist Party in the Greek civil war.
While he did do some good things, he was too dictatorial for me. We're going to need Simfan to have someone who can truely defend him.

As oxymoronic as that sounds, because the Soviets offered minimal support to the communist party due to an agreement with the British, Tito stepped in giving a lot of aid to the communists. At the same time, those communists were denouncing him as a revisionist. It was very surreal, to say the least.

Marginally more Freedom Fighter than Horrible Person.  Certainly would be counted as a Freedom Fighter before 4 August 1936.
