In reality, it's the conditionless pro-Americanism that is the only attempted justification for this. It amounts to: "Because we can".

Sure, that's basically what American foreign policy in general amounts to...but at least don't pretend to be the victim.

I hate the U.N. and wouldn't mind it relocating but we don't get veto power over who represents a country in the U.N.

I support extending diplomatic niceties to even the worst regimes and the most evil of people, but I do make one exception, countries which doesn't extend those niceties back. Iran didn't respect the diplomatic rights of USA, as such Iran shouldn't expect their diplomats' rights to be respected.

Exactly. He is wanted not just for any crime, but for violating the sanctity of a UN institution. Him being appointed to this position is a mockery not just of the US, but of the UN.

At least this guy didn't get his country convicted of being a terrorist state by the World Court like Roberts Gates did. His being appointed as Defense Secretary, and being kept on by a President who ran on the slogan "change" was just ridiculous.
