I've just found out the two U.S. Presidents were arrested while in office.

Franklin Pierce was arrested in Washington for running his horse over an elderly woman. The constable didn't know who he was and released Pierce after he identified himself. Charges were later dropped due to "insufficient evidence".

Ulysses S. Grant was also arrested in Washington, for speeding his horse (apparently it wasn't an isolated accident and the D.C. police complained about Grant's fondness to race down the city's streets). The police confiscated his horse and buggy, fined with $20 and released from the station.

Good ole times, you might say.

Nixon posed an interesting problem during the height of the Watergate affair: there was some talk that he was going to Federalize the National Guard and station them around the White House to prevent any Congressional order for his arrest. He resigned before this ever actually happened, of course, but it would have been an interesting case study and would probably have set a useful precedent.
