If Kloubuchar is surprisingly the Democratic nominee (if Hillary, Biden, Cuomo, or Gillibrand does not run and the field is weak), would she be too centrist or DLC for the base in the fall of 2016?

No Klobuchar is more liberal than Hillary she'd do fine among the base she votes with the party 99% of the time.

Actually, it's her third trip there, if you count her campaigning for Christie Vilsack in the 2012 campaign.  But yes, it's her second trip there since Election Day 2012.  And of course, she attended Iowa's Inauguration party in DC in Jan. 2013, visited with the Iowa and SC delegations at the 2012 DNC, has done fundraising for Shaheen in NH and Colbert-Busch in SC, etc., etc.

I imagine it's not quite as a big deal for politicians from neighbouring states.

Klobuchar has a horrifyingly authoritarian anti-privacy record. Generally opposed to the 4th Amendment and pro-SOPA/PIPA.

I do not understand the appeal of this woman. She is a very far left liberal woman, who has no chance against Hillary, if Democrat Party wants to win

She'll only run if Clinton doesn't.  She's already "pre-endorsed" Clinton by signing a letter urging her to run, as has every other female Democratic senator.

Where are you getting the impression Klobuchar is even remotely far left if anything she's one of the more moderate Dems in the Senate and her ideology is right in line with Clinton's.

Yeah, Klobuchar has always been a corporate/NSA hack. But I don't think that would really stop her from being the nominee, Hillary has the same problems. Klobuchar's main problem is that she's boring and completely anonymous outside of Minnesota and political discussion. The only reason she appears on lists of possible VPs is because she's one of the few who actively appears interested in moving up.

I doubt Hillary would pick her as the nominee though. She has all the weaknesses of Hillary with no additional strengths, and she's from a state that Hillary will carry unless she looses in a landslide.

Well, take the Keystone pipeline for example. I don't think Klobuchar is for it (could be wrong). But I think HRC would authorize it in a heartbeat.

If  Hillary does not run and  Klobuchar does she is odds on favorite to win Iowa, after that who knows. Iowa is very similar to Minnesota politically and Klobuchar is insanely popular in Minnesota. She would probably not be the first choice of the Kos wing of the party but she would play very well with centrist Dems and Independents, especially in the Midwest. Honestly besides Hillary IMHO she is the Democrats best candidate.

Klobuchar isn't a liberal. She's far more conservative than Franken.

Klobuchar is anything but far left and is one of the worst Democrats in congress. She was one of the leading voices in support of SOPA/PIPA and the NSA and is also one of the most anti-marijuana politicians of either party. I would gladly vote for Rand Paul over her.
