The Taylor Grazing Act was initially written and passed in 1934 to prevent overgrazing. Of course, like many other things, it was eventually commandeered by the envirofundies who started whining about some tortoises.

He should have become pals with Harry Reid.

So now you support freeloaders mooching off of taxpayers, Krazen? Huh

(If you have even a quarter ounce of guts you'll actually attempt responding)

Of course not. There is no use in supporting Mr. Bundy's mooching behavior, else others will mooch as well. And America has enough moochers.

Far more concerning in the long run is the bizarre power of this BLM to selectively create and apply some sort of tortoise pretext. I suppose misuse of the law is to be expected.

From what I have seen it looks like the rancher is technically in the wrong, but the feds waaaay over reacted.

If you're denying court orders, what are they supposed to do?  Just ignore it?  It's not like they came in guns blazing from the beginning (or at least that's not my understanding).  They just started rounding up his trespassing cattle.  That seems reasonable to me.

Before you folks forget about him, beloved right-wing patriot and Republican party hero Cliven Bundy has just a few additional thoughts about "the Negro" to leave you with:

Haha, seriously? Why can't these people keep their mouths shut about race. It would help their cause so much.

Always love it when the far-right rallies around some guy who turns out to be a massive racist/general HP.

This guy gets to join Joe The Plumber and George Zimmerman in the conservative hero hall of fame.

There is a special "turned out to be a d-bag" wing.

Oh I'm sure he'll magically find something else far more important to talk about.  "Cliven Bundy?  Who's he?"

So you're a conspiracy theorist now? This dispute has been going on for 20 years, long before that deal was made and it was terminated in June last year anyway.

Not to mention the fact that the land that Mojave Energy was planning to buy is not the same land that Bundy has his cattle on.

But then again it's not really surprising that you would support a racist moocher.

I doubt most of this guy's supporters really have a problem with the racist statements, although obviously the politicians and "celebrities" will have to condemn him.

I bet he cashes in on his brief fame with a book or maybe some kind of TV show (although I don't know if there's a network that would put him on).

The GOP should recruit him to run in NV-04, against the 'Negro' from North Las Vegas currently occupying the seat.

I just read that this guy has 14 children and 200 grandchildren.

Why do the worst people breed the most? Sad

What kind of people in history used violence to enter or stay on Government land?

In Canada, they cause us all sorts of problems. They refuse to pay their landlords and get violent when the landlord is threatning them with expulsion. Well, same than here, but it's less popular when the landlord is an old lady instead of federal government.

He has called himself a "sovereign citizen" and has specifically said he doesn't believe in the authority of the Federal guvment and that he only respects the authority of his local sheriff. This guy is a huge kook and it is astounding that many in the conservamedia world (and a few actual real elected officials) didn't see the crazy until he started talking about "the negro"

Something that amuses me about both sovereign citizen-types and many orthodox right-libertarians is the boundless faith they put in local institutions. Why do they so rarely extend their analysis of abusive hierarchies of power into local governments? I favor decentralization strongly, but merely devolving power onto existing structures will simply reproduce the old problems on a smaller scale.

A national government too timid to assert its authority. A bit like Ukraine, isn't it?

You don't hear about police brutality from the BLM, do you?

The barbarians are definitely at the gates lately.
