Beautiful. Lenin, however, left out the part where the liberal goes straight to Hell upon beind "delivered from his mortal clay".

How did revolution work out for the communists?

I'd argue liberals are more tactful and successful in getting what they want. At times, even going so far as to make sure that their positive rights are economically beneficial to society as a whole.

The ballot is the great equalizer. Revolutionaries who push for anything other than the ballot should be forgotten.

While I suppose it is useful he recounted his personal experience of what happened when he abused, beat, and killed liberals, I find the quote to be rather meh.  I'd expect something better from someone with Lenin's reputation.  Maybe it loses something in translation.

Automatically a horrible quote considering the man himself is directly responsible for tens of thousands of murders during his reign before he died.

The man is completely discredited when he is responsible for so much devastation and destruction on top of it happening in a country where the whole bourgeois vs proles thing didn't even exist.

Because Lenin's ideas were so successful. It's just a coincidence every country that adopted them turned into a dictatorship and/or oligarchy.

Ugh...the fact that we even know who he was is sad. Germany should have never released him back into Russia, I mean, I understand why they did it, tactically, but I guess you should be careful what you wish for. Tongue As for the quote, it isn't that great, but as Ernest said, perhaps it loses something in translation.

By an objective measure the USSR's domestic policies were massively successful in terms of the progress made from living standards/industrialization in Imperial Russia.

The deaths of tens of thousands under Lenin and millions under Stalin can obviously be forgivin because tey built bridges.

So you think that justifies living under a dictatorship/oligarchy that imprisons and/or slaughters its own citizens for having a dissenting political opinion? Ah, the sociopathy of teenage Marxism.

By the way, improving standards of living from Tsarist Russia isn't much to write home about. There's pretty much nowhere to go but up.

It doesn't, but going by many objective measures the USSR was massively successful in industrializing Russia (which is why you don't speak German today) and improving living standards (Russia went from the most backwater country in Europe to on par with the USA in many marks by the 1970's). I'm not even a big fan of the Bolshevik perversion of Marx, but it was a clear improvement over Tsarism.

Q: What is communism?
A: It's when everything will be available in stores. In other words, just like it was under our Tsar Nicholas the Second.

Everything was available in stores in the Soviet Union, provided you were a party member.
