Leaving aside the question of whether we should encourage drunkenness by celebrating the follies of the drunk, there is the problem is how do we decide who has "earned" a drunken posting spree?

I like the guy, but now my opinion is skewed since I don't usually approve of Drunken Rampages, and that now the Bleeding Hearts of the forum now have a new martyr to project their emotions on.

If we're going to start doing... whatever, I missed what happened, when people get drunk and post on here, where will this place's character go? I just got popped into the Simple Truths Silver Mine for doing just that earlier this morning. There are tons of new posters that can probably get away with posting things several times less relevant than whatever King posted, but where's the action on that front?

Back in the day, though-

I'm not counting Dave Leip.  He used to be the only moderator when I first started posting here.  There were no "infraction points" or anything like that back then.  I'd just get an email message once in a while that said something like, "Please avoid drunken, emotional diatribes.  Thank you, Dave Leip" or "Please refrain from linking to pornographic websites.  Thank you, Dave Leip."

It's still pending review in the mod board, so my guess would be that he did it himself; however, the easiest way to figure that out would be to PM King.

Just a question......Do you assign points to every post you delete?  I'm not talking about the over-editing, I mean just posts you delete.

Seriously I saw it. It wasn't in any way even remotely funny. It was pure incoherent nonsense. If a newbie started posting that, no one would praise him or think it was funny.

Now he should not be put on mod review. The posts should've just have been deleted and let that be the end of it. But the defenders are not doing him any favors arguing that what he posted was funny, had any value, or that he deserved to be able to do it for being a long timer. Especially hypocritical from someone who was opposed to opebo...
