I know I'm a noob but, I just finished season 1 and I wanted to say it's really awesome! Smiley I'm not much into epic fantasy, but this really has great characters and storylines, and I look forward to watching more.

Enjoy until the series become a cheap midget porn movie.

Well, there's already been a good deal of (midget or not) porn so far. Can it really get any worse? Tongue

Oh, another main character died recently? LOL, if it continues at that pace I guess that by the show's end Rickon and Tommen will be fighting each other to avenge the death of the rest of their respective families. Tongue

Though as far as I know, they might already be dead at this point...

There's a small part of me that wonders if the White Walkers won't simply conquer Westeros and kill everyone.  I doubt it, but...

That would be a little weird considering the titles of the final books: the next to last is The Winds of Winter and the very last A Dream of Spring. This would suggest that winter will come but things would eventually get better afterwards. Still, it's George Martin we're speaking about, so we never know. Tongue

Of course, if all the competent characters kill each other before the white walkers come, they shouldn't have much trouble conquering Westeros.

But yeah, the Lannisters are about to kill the most competent of their brood and Daynersizsids or whatever has just chased away her crush. The only possible hope is the Stark kid who's been missing since season 3. Otherwise they're all going to shoot each other into oblivion.

Dude, these spoilers are way too obvious. I know I should try to avoid this thread until I catch up with you guys, but a warning would have been nice. Sad

Well actually, the thread was always there for discussion up to the latest episodes.
Sorry for you, but it would really be wise to leave this thread until you caught up.

As far as I've seen spoilers are usually marked in white text...

Oh, that makes sense, my bad.

It's neither the first nor the most important spoiler I've got anyway, so no big deal. Actually, maybe it's a good thing I got some, as it will make it easier to accept the death of characters I liked without suffering too much.

I'd say that one on the next finales is going to be more optimistic than the rest of them, but then again that's not saying much, xD

On an unrelated note, there an idea I wanted to discuss in this thread, if someone is interested. As of now I am still hosting a strategy game that might take some time, but my first option was always to host a grand strategy game based on Game of Thrones/ASOIAF. I even discussed it with some forum members a few months ago, but I never went through with it because I felt I would lack enough players.

In the case I were to host one of those in the future (or find someone to host it), would anybody be interested?

Sure! That sounds fun. Smiley I just hope I'll have finished watching when you start it. Tongue

I am interested in participating, Lumine. Let me know if you get any farther with the idea.

Great! My final exams for the semester are coming, so I will planify a potential game and then see if the time will allow me to host that and Balance of Power at the same time. (I also have to decide the setting, like Robert Baratheon's Rebellion, the War of the Five Kings or the rough scenario of a Feast for Crows+A Dance with Dragons.

I'm fine with anything as long as it's covered by the show. I'm never gonna read the books though. Tongue

I'm progressing though season 3, and as far as I can see Robb's position seems to be completely falling apart. At this point, being killed (yep, I got the spoilers about the "red wedding", they're everywhere) might be the best way to end his run with dignity...

Also, when I was watching season 2 I'd never have thought I'd ever say that but... poor Theon. Tongue It seems like even his being killed off in Lumine's game was better for him than what he's going through right now.

I was on holiday in Venice when that down and learnt that from a London Underground blog...

Oh LOL. They really are everywhere. Tongue

Mine was a bit more deserved than yours, it seems, since I was specifically looking for info on the universe/backstory. I should have known info on the past and present often get mixed together...

Such a shame Arya is so young. If she was 10 years older she'd have single-handedly massacred all the Lannisters by now. Tongue Anyway, she's so absolutely awesome! She's been my favorite character since season 1 and probably one of my favorite TV show characters in general. At this point she's the only character whose death would make me upset (I had long accepted the possibility that anyone could die, and I'm pretty sure more of the good guys will die soon enough).

So far I'm halfway through Season 4 and it seems like things are surprisingly going... well? Or at least less crappy than usual. Sure, Tyrion is in deep sh*t (wouldn't surprise me too much if he was actually doomed, after all this is GoT), but Joffrey is finally gone and Tommen is actually shaping up to be a great King (I just love the way Maergery is seducing the poor little innocent kid... Tongue). Sansa might be struck with a mentally unstable woman, her unbelievably creepy son and, well, Littlefinger, but it's nonetheless still an improvement over her previous situation. Tongue Plus the NW mutinies just got their comeuppance. Arya is slowly learning how to kick ass. And Daenerys is still doing stuff nobody gives a sh*t about. So it's all good. Smiley

Of course I'm pretty sure the season's ending will turn all this to ashes. Cry

LOL Oberyn. Stupidest death after the guy who asked a Lannister thug to carry him. I'd have laughed my ass off if it didn't mean Tyrion will also die...

And I finally got the Arya laughter! Cheesy It gets even more hilariously unsettling than you'd expect when you know the context.

Also, hats off to Sansa for upgrading her Manipulative Bitch skills so massively. The Stark daughters really are our last hope...

Yep. King's Landing is about to become a very nice place, xD

I can imagine... I'm glad Tyrion had his vengeance, by all means, but Tywin deserved a less pathetic death. And yeah, it means Cersei is effectively the Lannister boss... which is gonna be HELL.

Haven't read the books or read any spoilers, so this is all just guessing...I'm predicting (hoping?) that Margery becomes the true power behind the throne. I'm wondering if her father becomes the new Hand of the King, because who else would it be?

I certainly hope Maergery will be victorious in her holy war against Cersei, butshe certainly  won't find an easy fight... And Tywin was barely able to restrain his daughter's stupidity, so it's clear that with his out of the picture she'll be able to do as much damage as she wants.

Just watch the first six seasons, and call it a night after watching Daenerys' fleet sail toward Westeros.  Let that be the last image you will have of the series, and pretend the last two seasons don't exist.

Season 6 also sucks

As does season 5.

Really, you're better off watching the first three seasons and leaving it there. They form a fairly complete narrative arc on their own.
