I have a few questions about this: first, why grades 6-12? Dividing the 4 years into part of high school as well as part of middle school seems like it could create some complications for people coming from middle schools with different language standards.

Keep in mind that this bill will have to be funded.  A GM estimate is necessary.

It's been five days since this bill has had any discussion.

Is the bill now just an amendment to the Is Our Children Learning Act.

We should probably think about moving to a final vote soon.  Still, I don't know if I can sign this without a cost estimate.

I don't imagine it would cost too much to find language teachers in areas where there are already significant numbers of people who speak the language in question. I'd be surprised if there were many school districts that were not already compliant with this.

I've been wondering that; how are cost estimates done nowadays? I saw Griffin talking about some kind of new system but I have no idea what that is....

I agree with PiT, this seems like a small change that probably won't cost much, but it's always good to get a cost check.

Can we get a vote on this?

Ok, having checked and double checked I am now sure that there are currently no GM cost checks going on. This being said, we could probably do our own informal one, but I don't think it would be necessary to do before a final vote.

I hereby open final voting on this bill.
