The latest poling shows Scott Walker 15 points ahead of Mary Burke for this year's gubernatorial race. If he beats her by double digits, is he The automatic frontrunner for 2016?

He quickly becomes the hero of every right-wing economic interest -- the anti-worker, privatization, anti-education, and anti-environment causes. He probably begins deferring to the other parts of the Right -- if he isn't there yet -- on foreign policy, firearms, law enforcement, and sex.

He could be the monster of every liberal nightmare in the US. That is what the Right wants.

I don't know if it would make him the automatic frontrunner, but it would give him a lot of buzz (the equivalent of what we're seeing with Jeb right now) heading into the earliest stage of the visible primary, as candidates publicly declare their intentions.

That poll is BS and its not going to be double digits, but even if that did happen Walker is not a guaranteed front-runner. But he'll get way more attention that he did before.

I agree, but I feel like that Marquette poll is correct (has him up 7).

That's sufficient to qualify him for the presidential election.

Yes but that's pretty big "if".

Wisconsin is extremely polarized. He will never win by 15.

If he wins by at least 6, he's probably going to be moved to a top tier Candidate, though if he only wins by 1-3, he's probably out, and if he loses, he's out, big time.

He won't win by 15, much like Christie was never going to win by 30.

But he's in a great position. He has by far the fewest weaknesses of any GOP top tier candidate.

Haha, but seriously, if Walker wins by 15 points, I would be very surprised. It would also depend on how election night goes for the Republicans. If the GOP knocks out Democrats left and right across the nation, even in the light-to-medium Democratic states, and wins even bigger than in 2010, I don't think Walker winning by this margin would be much of a shocker, but in the current political environment, with the Republicans somewhat favored to win nationally, I think a 15 point win would give Walker a boost for the presidential race.

I do think Walker will win, but this margin is in when-hell-freezes-over territory regardless of the national political environment. 45% of the state of Wisconsin literally hates Walker and will vote against him no matter what the situation.

He'd be the frontrunner for the GOP nomination (and already is IMO) but the General Election would be much more difficult.
