It seems like only yesterday that we were shoveling snow.  Suddenly, the grass is green and tall.

Usually my grass is the longest on the block.  I get around to mowing it when it really needs it, and it's starting to really need it.  Most of my neighbors were out with their penis-extension riding mowers last weekend making me look bad.  I guess I'll break down and do it sometime in the next week or so.  Fortunately I have only a standard 0.25-acre suburban lawn to manicure.

How about you?

Yes. I need to do it again before next week. I hate lawns.

My backyard is a bricked over courtyard.  My front lawn is maybe 6x8 which I weed wack as needed.  God blessed 19th century city land use.

I live in Northern Ireland, the last time I mowed the lawn was when Pelosi was Speaker.

None of the above. The hardworking Hispanic gentlemen take care of all that. Bless their souls. And damn the Republicans who would have them sent back to Nuevo Laredo!

It's still hidden under the snow.

Not yet this year, no.  My mom and I had to take up that chore when my dad passed away last year.  It's something we got used to pretty quickly.

I haven't mowed my own lawn in months. Cursed green tendrils clawing at the sky.. I am slowly planting things so that there's no longer any grass. I've only got a small bangalow palm so far, and an Australian native something or other in the far corner. Eventually it still be a multi-textural wonderland of plants and flowers. For now, we've got a guy who mows it. Too infrequently for my tastes, but the old school push mower I got went to sh**t real quick, and busting out the whipper snipper and sending grass flying everywhere is silly.

Despite the inch of snow on Monday, the lawn is greening up fast. It's still too short to cut this week, but I'm thinking it might be ready sometime next week.

Our grass guy is starting this week.  The grass is really dark green and looking good.

I live in an apartment with my mother, and our neighbor, who has the hots for her, mows our lawn for us.

I just voted "no".

Amazingly quick does it happen.  Ours is very dark green as well, and probably at least 12 cm long in places, although I haven't measured it.  I won't cut it before Sunday, as it is our custom to color eggs, then hide them on the lawn.  First I hide them and my wife and son try to find them all.  Then my son hides them and my wife and I try to find them all (he puts them in some rather bizarre places!), then she hides them.  The long grass facilitates concealment, but sometime over the next week or so it will need cutting.

I thought the Republicans want them to stay in the U.S. to serve as a cheap form of labor.

Done.  It took a long time, as I'm out of practice.  I think nearly an hour.  (It has been at least 6 months since I last mowed the lawn.)  I emptied that bag about six times!  Mostly it was twigs and leaves and other bits of organic debris that had accumulated over the winter.

It was also an excellent day for a bicycle ride, so my son and I took a long one after the egg hunting contest and before the lawn mowing event.

Now I'm freshly scrubbed, a little sore, and ready for a stiff drink.  Happy Easter!

Nope, not yet.  I'm looking forward to it, though.
