I don't know if I understand what true leftism is. 

Tumblr leftism is, in my mind, basically a breed of college campus reactionary victimhood where you're supposed to be ashamed of yourself all the time unless you're black or transgender. 

True leftism is just extreme leftism, either born out of a desire for leftist street cred and being emotionally adolescent.

By those definitions, I go with true leftism.  I prefer that ideology simply because it's fits in with my beliefs in egalitarianism and constantly questioning authority.  Tumblr leftism feels more like a cult to me.

Campaigned for Obama and refuses to get married until same-sex marriage is legal nationwide. That sort of archetype.

The type of proto-tumblr leftism I referred to that shaped my politics is in a scene that's almost exclusively white people, so I don't think that sort of definition works well. Think more white people who think most white people are terrible but they and the people in their subculture are the exceptions.

I was inspired to create my display name when I was at a show with some local bands, and one gave a little speech before one of their songs which they said is called "Anoka Hennepin" after the local school district. Obviously it was about the cases of anti-gay harassment and suicides in said district and then he expanded about how we need to tackle all forms of oppression like gender oppression and how as a straight white male he benefits from the patriarchal racist and hetereosexist dominance of our society but that he still calls for it to be destroyed, while the rather intoxicated 21+ crowd just cheered and yelled loudly in approval. Then they started playing the song and all the drunk people started jumping around and climbing on stage to jump off while you couldn't understand any of the lyrics anyway because it was mostly incoherent screaming. And of course there was no one under 21 in attendance. So yeah not 15 year olds.

Tumblr leftism (or whatever) is way more annoying, and there are aspects of true leftism that I like that don't exist among any other part of the left. But all in all true leftism is much more damaging to any nation or state, and they're also more serious about their beliefs.
