I am talking about places like Northern Virginia, where republicans must do better if they want the state back. That area is one of the richest and most educated in the country- I doubt voters there would trust a man who did not complete college. This applies also to Eastern Iowa, New Hampshire, and even Florida.

If Walker's the nominee the swing areas will be places like Arizona and they won't be crucial.

I could actually see some voters taking a lack of a college degree into consideration. However, I think the fact that Walker dropped out in his senior year to take a job (rather than e.g. being kicked out) mostly neutralizes the issue.

Mr. President, we need you to write an essay on Kant, smoke some bowls and then throw the frisbee around for awhile, your country needs you!

That situation might happen so we need a college grad as President.

It can hurt him if he says something stupid, although I think any Republican will be held to a high standard of scrutiny on that, considering the possible associations with Quayle, W, Palin and Perry.

It can make Democrats look like snobs, for several reasons, including the fact that he left college in his senior year to take a decent job, which means that the main argument about a degree is that he lacks a piece of paper, rather than anything to do with whether he got a college education (He did.)

Maybe Walker should just bite the bullet and enroll for however many credits he needs (it couldn't be more than one or two classes) and officially complete his degree. He could probably just enroll in a couple of cupcake courses online.

Then he could avoid the whole issue and say he's setting a good example for his kids / young people in general to "finish what you start."

I don't see why not tbh, it would get rid of the issue and give him some sort of "pat yourself on the back" accomplishment

Less than 40% of Americans even have degrees as is; this type of thing would be a non-issue to most. People who would find this an issue probably wouldn't have voted for Walker in the first place.

Shouldn't the President be an extraordinary person though?  It's a really important job, an average person should never be President.

The question is whether the person has the qualifications and skills needed to be President.  A college degree is not necessary, you just want a person to have gained knowledge and experience some other way.

Walker is considering completing his degree though the University of Wisconsin system's UW Flex Option. If he starts this next year, he could be done just in time for 2016.

Exactly. The qualifications for president are not the same as an entry level position at in IBanking firm.
