Alright, so I tend to enjoy the bow tie look, but I've been told by conservatives that bow ties are too liberal-looking and by liberals that they are too conservative-looking.

Which way does the bow tie wearing demographic really lean?

When I picture bowties, I picture

A) Nation of Islam (Think Brother Mouzone from The Wire)
B) Tucker Carlson

So kind of a mixed bag.

Exactly the word I was going to use.  Wearing a bow tie will almost inevitably call attention to oneself.  The only exceptions are when one is at a formal social occasion, is a member of a marching band that includes them in the uniform, or is a waiter at a fancy restaurant.  (I have worn bowties for the first two reasons, but never in a situation where they would be unusual.)

Yes. It's basically impossible to wear a bow tie without looking like a total asshole unless you're a Nation of Islam hitman. Or a waiter.

The Tenth Doctor was my Doctor, so I can't say I agree. Wink

Personally, I really don't like bowties. It just doesn't look right on most people, especially the rare occasion when you see someone like the President wear one for some particular very formal occasion.

Choice 3. A bow tie is positively, absolutely a conservative dress style - nearly as conservative as it gets while remaining contemporary, but conservative style does not always equate to politics. And since most people are generally aware of that, I think most folks who wear bow ties are usually trying to make some sort of fashion statement, either by trying to look conservative or else wearing one because it will absolutely clash with something else (and I occasionally see the latter). I wouldn't take fashion tips from either person, btw. Tongue

My experience has been that whites who wear bow ties are almost entirely right-wing frat boy types trying to be "cool," but I associate them more with blacks, so I voted liberal.
