The Democrats were more pro-gold on the presidential level than the Republicans, as demonstrated by the candidacies of James A. Garfield and Benjamin Harrison. The years that Republicans were pro-gold pre-'96, the Democrats were about the same or moreso. 1872 is the only pre-1896 exception that comes to mind.
Then Gold Democrats and Gold Republicans, easy as pie. (And Violet for Federalists)
