Also, are the board meetings meant to be twice a year, or once every two years?

This was originally X's bill, but I decided to sponsor it because it seemed to address a critical issue. On average, 100 million sharks are killed by humans each year, some species have suffered decreases of 70% in the last 20-30 years, and a quarter of all species are in danger of extinction. This bill is a good first step to solving that problem.

Amendment is friendly.

Likewise, the amendment number needs to be bumped up to 60:60 by Tyrion on the account of the issue mentioned in the Paid Leave thread.

I really don't have much to add here: I fully support this bill. It's about time we do something about endangered species, even if we have to use economic sanctions.

Not every country has a highly developed police force that has the resources to go after things like this.  They have enough of a hard time confronting crimes against humans. We should be working on cooperating with other nations on this rather than economic threats that don't respect the conditions in these countries.  If we place sanctions on them, it just makes the people there more desperate and likely to engage in unsustainable practices.

Also I'm generally not a fan on punishing people for what they put in their bodies.

Amendment is hostile.

I see your point shua, that we shouldn't be punishing a country which can't afford to prosecute people who cut off the fins, so I wouldn't mind further amendments but there needs to be some sanctions against those who can prosecute, but choose not to.

Amendment 60:60 60:61 is adopted

Cincy update your post to 60:61.

Damn it, this one was in my notepad backup of the tracker and not in the tracker itself. The only way they get it in the notepad is to be copied and pasted from the tracker. Normally I split at 60:60 and I should have doen it even if it wasn't at the character limit, perhaps the forum software is playing tricks at the periphery of the cuttoff, which was just reached anyway so i sliced it back at the normal cutoff point.

I'm on board with this- is there a way we could extend this to cover more marine species, such as whales and dolphins?

I suppose it would have to be a separate bill, but why not ban the sale and consumption of meat from all endangered species?

I thought prohibitions on consumption were something that social libertarians were allergic to? Tongue

I'm not saying I would be competently on board with it, I'm just looking for consistency here. Tongue

I asked Duke to be certain that were both pretty sure (thats taking a position Tongue) that ole bgwah already did something like that, man.

In that case, doesn't that make this bill kind of redundant?

It is preferable to not go with a one size fits all approach. Also since one is probably looking like it is reduntant anyway...
