November 2014-January 2015
In The Beginning

MCCONNELL: THIS IS MY LAST TERM

November 10, 2014 - In a Press Conference today on Capitol Hill, recently re-elected Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced that he was stepping down from the position of Senate GOP Leader, as well as that his next term, running through 2021, would be his last. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) is expected to ascend to Senate GOP Leader.

BOEHNER: I WILL NOT SEEK RE-ELECTION AS SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE

November 24, 2014 - In a Press Confrence today on Capitol Hill, Speaker John Boehner (R-OH-8) announced that he was stepping down from the position of Speaker of the House. This leaves the House GOP Caucus in a Leadership Vacuum, with Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA-5) as the moderate favorite, Eric Cantor (R-VA-7) as the mainstream favorite, and Trey Gowdy (R-SC-4) as the Tea Party favorite. The House GOP Caucus will meet in the middle of December to elect a new Leader.

MCMORRIS RODGERS NEW SPEAKER

December 10, 2014 - In a surprising turn of events, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA-5) has defeated Reps. Eric Cantor (R-VA-7) and Trey Gowdy (R-SC-4) to become the new House GOP Leader, replacing John Boehner. It was also announced that Cantor would stay as House Majority Leader and Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA-23) would stay at House Majority Whip. Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR-2) will replace McMorris Rodgers as Conference Chair.

I'm too lazy to go through each Senator and count, but your Senate totals end up as 101. Tongue

This has been great so far, though the fields are a bit small. I'd expect more than four Republican candidates, to be honest.
