Vance/Smith, though Custer/Smith is fine too.

...Someone voted twice in the Presidential election, and then another person didn't vote in the VP election. There are 19 votes for President and 16 for VP.

It sucks, but there's not much I can do about it unless they wish to out themselves.

Cathcon proposed awhile back going to strictly 1 vote (since IRL you can't be in the Senate and House) but I don't think anybody finds that particularly desirable.

All I can say is that I voted for Vance for president and Smith for VP. I'm definitely not your cheater. Still, an interesting election in any case.

EDIT: Wow, look at all of those Smith VP votes. Regardless of who wins the House vote, Smith is definitely going to be VP. I'm very happy with this.

We could have separate House and Senate elections if you're willing to keep track of one extra thread once in a while.

I can't wait to see how Dallas explains this election result.

32 votes for President, 25 votes for Vice-President Tongue  I think we'll probably need two threads if it ever goes to Congress in the future, though it is obviously Dallas' call.  Also someone just voted for Cleveland and Custer without picking anyone for VP (this morning there were 28 voters and now there are 29, but Cleveland and Custer have both gained one vote while neither VP candidate has).

Since the Whigs have been slowly dying as a party, would a Vance victory mean that some of the People's Alliance/moderate Unionists in the House voted for him?

Also something to consider in future elections; the real-life Mormons pushed for women's suffrage from about the 1870s onward, so that could be an issue in the future.

That wasn't just them though, the rural states in the west were generally supportive of women's suffrage.  I'd argue the Mormons supporting it was more a result of the fact that they lived mainly in the rural, western states IRL.

It could also mean a major comeback for the Whigs in the congressional elections and thus a coalition between the People's alliance and the Whigs if the newly elected Congress votes on this rather than the old one.

If no candidate gets a majority here, does it go to round 2?

I'm surprised that Cleveland got those three extra votes at the end; he was at 9 votes for a while.

We've got about 27 hours left. Interestingly, this is almost exactly the same vote breakdown as in the regular election - perhaps we should only do the top two if there are three general election candidates?

Rather than five options and two votes, you could have given six options and one vote: Cleveland/Smith, Cleveland/Teller, Custer/Smith, Custer/Teller, Vance/Smith, and Vance/Teller.

That actually sounds reasonable, if you combine the votes for the same person (so Vance/Smith and Vance/Teller would be counted as a vote for Vance).
