The FRC is a bait group. Like Dobson's Focus on the Family, its semi-conscious purpose is to channel Christians who may otherwise be compelled by conscience to support social justice-oriented issues into hard right politics instead.

LOL yes.  And whether or not they are a bait group with a conscious end in mind, they spout ridiculous, hateful drivel about gays that can have the effect of inciting hate in others.

Spreading lies and fear about homosexuality, I would say so. One of their members even said they would like to re-criminalize homosexual behavior (although that's an exception)... So I think the SPLC is right.
