I was interested to see how school books these days look and what has changed in the last 10 years that I have left high school.

Thank Goodness the ÖBV (Austrian Federal Publishing Agency for School Books) has e-books out for all the latest school books (and they are REALLY up to date, they already include the election results from the Sept. 2013 federal elections !).

Example (History Book for the junior high school year, 2nd World War):

(or, the "Swastika over Austria"):

(or, Biology: "Neurobiology"):

...

I have to say those new school books are awesome and very informative.

I'm actually considering buying a few of them, just for fun ... Smiley

How do your books look like ?

I've got the first one Tongue

Our Biology/Geography books aren't as good and new as these, though; maybe because I'm in a school with focus on languages and not on science. Our English book seems to be pretty new, as is our Latin book; which I found here:

I remember that the Science books seemed to have mostly been printed in the 1970s.

The covers of science textbooks always promised more than they could deliver.

I remember the university books more.  It has been a long time since I was in high school, but somehow I still have a Spanish I for mastery, a French I book (Nouveaux Copains), and a world history book.  I guess I forgot to give those back at the end of the year.

I managed to find an image on line for the Spanish book, but since it is so old (80s) I don't think there's a "look inside" feature.

That book is no longer in print, but here's the volume that the same publisher, McDougal Littell, is pushing in the 21st Century:

It comes with all sorts of extras like "audio flashcards" and on-line maps of Mexico, Ecuador, Spain, etc.  They didn't have that stuff in the 80s.  Looking at the publisher's website, and previewing the units of the book, I conclude that the material has not changed much.
